I worked with Garfield for a relative brief period in 2008. However knowing him for even such a short period was a great pleasure and I quickly regarded him as a firm friend. I then left the firm we both worked at and bizarrely we both found ourselves both working in Sussex. I continued to see him occasionally. It was always a pleasure to catch up with him. Then when I moved to London, I lost contact with him. I am shocked to now hear of his death and naturally would wish to pass on my regards to his wife and family. He was a smashing guy.
